Recent News from the Community in the DRC
Life in the Democratic Republic of Congo remains fragile.
Ongoing conflict continues to create fear for families, and children are among the most affected. In recent months, more children have been seen begging on the streets as families struggle to survive and keep them safe.
Despite this, hope is still being built.
Right now, 32 children are supported through our education programme. For these children, school is more than learning. It is protection. It is routine. It is safety.
But the need is growing. More children want to join the programme than we currently have funding for. Without sponsorship, many are left exposed to exploitation, street life, and the risks created by war.
In 2025, six children graduated from their school education through Lily for the Congo. These are children who would not have completed school without community support. Their success is proof that sponsorship changes lives in real, measurable ways.
Looking ahead to 2026
Our goal for 2026 is clear and focused.
We aim to sponsor 20 more children, with a strong priority on girls, who are often the first to lose access to education in times of conflict.
Every sponsored child means:
-
one less child on the streets
-
one more child in school
-
one more future protected
To grow this community, we need more sponsors.
Your support directly brings children into safety, education, and care.
If you’re ready to help build a future for child who needs you, now is the moment.
We need more sponsors for 2026
Why not share the cost of sponsoring a child with your friends, family or community group.

April 2023 - Sadly we lost Ray, our chairman for Lily for the Congo, to cancer this year. It came as a shock to all of us and we miss him very much. We raised £3000 in his memory which was spent on housing improvements for the children and school fees for some of the children who currently do not have sponsors.
Ray self-funded a trip to our community in Congo in the summer of 2022 to meet the children and Brother Issac, forging unforgettable links between our charity and the people we help through our sponsorship programme.

February 2021- land purchase opportunity
Sponsors' donations care for the Lily children on a monthly
basis, but many children in the area still go to bed hungry.
Our vision is to create a sustainable community and
provide long-term food security.
If we can secure fertile land we can produce our own food.
For ever!
Specialist Charities will provide free training to help us
grow suitable crops. Then we will build our own school,
accommodation for orphaned children and their mothers,
and one day a medical centre providing healthcare.
Good arable land in Britain costs around £20,000
a hectare (2.5 acres) In The Congo it is £2,500
To start the process we are searching for a corporate or
very generous private donor so we can acquire XX Hectares
of the land shown in this stunning view. There is a river nearby, and successful adjacent small farms.
Donating can significantly reduce your company's Corporation Tax bill
Please consider Lily For The Congo as your chosen charity of the year.

April 2021 - Anonymous donation
Music is integral to life in the Congo. We asked the community what one thing would improve their quality of life. This was their answer:
Thomann SP-5600 Keyboard for the Lily Church!
This professional-quality keyboard was purchased in Spring 2021 thanks to a one-off donation and arrived in April.
We are now seeking a donation to upgrade the church's amplifier and improve the music experience for the community.
(If you know anyone who wants to make this contribution, we are seeking around £450 - please contact us)
